Point Reyes National Seashore, a unit of the National Park Service, is hiring a Restoration Biologist (GS-9; Career Seasonal) to manage and implement its invasive plant monitoring and treatment program for the park’s 90,000 acres. The Restoration Biologist will assist with developing and implementing a prioritization approach for invasives removal and conduct and lead day-to-day operations of invasive plant removal efforts that use a variety of removal methods including manual removal, mechanical removal using chainsaws, and herbicide. The Biologist will also work with the Vegetation Ecologist on annual monitoring of federally endangered plants, including monitoring and reporting. This position is also responsible for preparing contracting bid packages and task or cooperative agreements for various projects, including for removal of invasive plants or revegetation. The Biologist will also manage hiring and supervise seasonal NPS staff, youth crews, interns, and/or volunteers to assist with invasive plant surveys and removal, monitoring, and potentially revegetation. Because this position performs invasive plant removal, the Biologist is required to possess and maintain a Qualified Applicator's Certificate (QAC) from California Dept. of Pesticide Regulation (CDPR). (You MUST provide a copy of your QAC at the time of application, or you will be disqualified from consideration.)This is a Career-Seasonal appointment. It is a permanent position that includes the same benefits as Career appointments, but does not provide work on a year-round basis (11.5 months of pay).
