Wanted: Nursery Specialist II or Nursery Specialist/Biologist II - Sunol, CA
Avila and Associates is seeking a part-time Nursery Specialist II or a full-time Nursery Specialist/Biologist II to participate in or lead the performance of a wide variety of plant propagation activities at the San Francisco Public Utility Commission (SFPUC) Sunol Native Plant Nursery located in Sunol, CA, and potentially support field and office work related to habitat restoration. The Nursery Specialist position is three days per week (24 hours) and works closely with the Sunol Native Plant Nursery Manager. Nursery Specialist main duties include
- testing nursery stock for phytophthora using pear baiting techniques;
- disease scouting and control;
- irrigation set-up, repair, and monitoring;
- propagation activities including sowing, transplanting, and potting-up;
- assist with purchasing and record keeping.
