    Restoration Program Manager - Save The Bay (Bay Area, California)

    Over two decades, Save The Bay has become a Bay Area leader in the science and practice of habitat restoration, focused on tidal marsh transition zone habitat at landscape-scale for recovery of endangered species, and for ecosystem resilience in the face of climate change. We enlist thousands of volunteers annually to restore the shoreline, and educate Bay Area students to be the next generation of Bay stewards through hands-on experiential education and on-line learning.

    The Restoration Program Manager is responsible for all administrative and organizational components of Save The Bay’s Community-Based Restoration (CBR) Programs. The Manager oversees a team of providers to ensure high-quality program delivery, positive participant experience, and beneficial impacts. The Manager also works closely with the Habitat Restoration Director to set and meet department and organization goals. This position reports to the Habitat Restoration Director and supervises the Restoration Operations Manager, Education Program and Content Manager, and the Restoration Project Specialist.

    RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Manage all CBR program-related field and office operations, budget, goal-setting and staff assignments; ensure team coordination of project records, data entry, goal setting and program scheduling.
    • Supervise direct reports, including all HR, training, support and mentoring.
      • Oversee Restoration Operations Manager in managing equipment, supplies, data, supplies budget, and systems.
      • Oversee Education Program and Content Manager to develop youth environmental education content for in-person and Outdoor Learning Online (OLO) programs; and to expand stakeholder relationships and advance Diversity, Equity and Inclusion objectives.
    • Work with Habitat Restoration Director and Nursery Manager to create and manage restoration site plans, including plant propagation amounts, planting, watering, and weeding strategies, volunteer and staff workday needs; assist Habitat Restoration Director to develop program content and restoration activities to meet habitat restoration goals; maintain professional working relationships with land managers and site partners, including communication of program logistics and outcomes.
    • Ensure rigorous safety training and proper implementation of Save The Bay risk management policies and procedures.
    • Lead occasional Community-based Restoration Programs.
    • Assist with funding proposals, grant reports, and other projects as needed
    • Support outreach and fundraising campaigns, media events, conferences, and programs, with content and messaging to meet Save The Bay constituency and engagement goals.

    QUALIFICATIONS
    • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a team, with three to five years of staff supervision and program management experience.
    • Three to five years of experience in volunteer and community engagement; with some experience and familiarity in outdoor and/or environmental education and experiential, inquiry-based pedagogy.
    • Proven ability to manage field and office operations of a program with similar complexity; highly detail-oriented and organized.
    • Strong interpersonal and communications skills; ability to work well with teachers and school leaders as well as youth.
    • Enthusiasm for Save The Bay’s mission; creativity and flexibility, with strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
    • Demonstrated interest in diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
    • Willingness to work in the field up to 60% of the time; ability to work occasional weekends.
    • Clean background check.
    • Ownership (or unrestricted access) to a vehicle to use for work purposes; valid California driver’s license and favorable driving history, and proof of auto insurance.
    • First Aid and CPR certified; physical ability to lift and carry heavy objects of at least 40lbs.

    Salary and Benefits:
    The starting annual salary for this full-time, exempt position is $64,000, depending on experience. This is a full-time 40-hour per week. Workweek is Monday-Friday with occasional weekend work. Preferred start date is mid October 2021.
